Sustainability is key to everything we do
The challenges the world is facing today are having their impact on the lives of people all over the world. Like climate change, widespread droughts, increasing urbanization and the build-up of plastic waste. As TenCate, we are on a mission to build healthier, more beautiful communities, to help tackle those challenges
Sustainability is a system-wide commitment. Across the entire value chain, from design and production to end-of-life recycling, every step is measured, refined, and reimagined to reduce environmental impact and increase long-term value. Because the future of turf must be circular, climate-resilient, and built to last for people, for play, and for the planet.
We do this by:
- A Clear Sustainability Strategy: TenCate’s approach is built on one core belief: sustainability is not optional it’s essential. The company’s long-term strategy focuses on reducing impact, increasing product circularity, and enabling resilient sports infrastructure in a changing climate. This is backed by a group-wide commitment to ethical sourcing, ESG integration, and transparent impact reporting.
- Built to Last: Durability is sustainability. TenCate turf systems are engineered for long life and consistent performance reducing replacement cycles, lowering material use, and cutting emissions across the full lifecycle. With validated warranties and rigorous wear testing, these systems don’t just last longer they create measurable impact with every year they stay in play.
- End-of-Life, Reimagined: End-of-life recycling is no longer a challenge, it’s a strategic pillar. Through partnerships with GBN in Europe and ExxonMobil & Cyclyx in the US, TenCate enables both mechanical and advanced recycling of legacy turf systems, turning waste into new resources.
- Reducing Emissions: From lighter products and local manufacturing hubs to smart logistics and energy-efficient operations, TenCate is reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions while actively preparing a transition plan for long-term decarbonization. Five manufacturing sites are ISO 14001-certified, with more to follow.
- Transparency & Accountability: A dedicated ESG Committee, cross-functional working groups, third-party certifications (ISO, ISCC+, SMETA) and clear KPIs ensure that sustainability is embedded in every decision from boardroom to field.
