MOA Sky Field: Football at New Heights in Manila

In partnership with Spurway Sports and Play, a long-planned football project has finally become a reality. Located on the roof of SM Mall of Asia, the MOA Sky Field is now open, providing a new way to access sports in one of the most urbanized areas of Metro Manila.
The idea originated in 2016, when football facilities in the region were still limited. Spurway Sports and Play started the project with a clear goal: to create a reliable, accessible football pitch in the city’s center, open to players of all skill levels, as SM MOA and Spurway share the vision of bringing a world-class football facility to Manila.
A Challenging Build in an Unusual Location
The project was built alongside the ongoing expansion of one of the world’s largest malls. Installing a full-sized field on the rooftop required extensive coordination between engineering, construction, and turf specialists.
The surface chosen was GreenFields Evolution Pro 40, designed for durability and consistent play. Measuring 115 by 74 meters and currently seating 1,800 spectators, the field now serves professional clubs, youth teams, grassroots programs, and national players. It is also one of the highest full-sized football fields in Asia.
“This project took time, planning and persistence,” said Lester Louie Lee of Spurway Sports and Play. “It wasn’t just about building a pitch, it was about creating a place where football can grow, right in the centre of the city.”
FIFA Certified
MOA Sky Field is FIFA Quality certified under the FIFA Quality Program, ensuring it meets international standards for safety and performance. As football continues to grow in the Philippines, the field offers a central, year-round venue for matches, training, and development. The project has already attracted interest from the Philippine Football Federation, with teams and organizers regularly utilizing the facility since its completion in 2024.
What’s Next
Spurway Sports and Play is continuing to invest in similar urban football projects in Ortigas and Quezon City. The goal: make quality facilities part of everyday life for more players and communities.
