TenCate Manufacturing Companies earn UL Zero Waste to Landfill Gold Validation

Nijverdal, the Netherlands – TenCate, a global leader in the artificial grass industry, proudly announces that its major manufacturing facilities, Thiolon Middle East in Dubai and Polyloom, located in Dayton TN, have both achieved a 98% waste diversion rate. This achievement marks the highest level reached by a TenCate company to date, thereby achieving UL Solutions’ Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWtL) Gold Validation.

This important milestone demonstrates TenCate’s strong and ongoing dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

Reducing Environmental Impact at the Source

Reaching this exceptional level of sustainability performance required a strong focus on reducing environmental impacts from the ground up. Both facilities adopted innovative manufacturing processes, invested in upgrades to existing infrastructure, and launched comprehensive waste-reduction programs.

Key to this success were employee training initiatives and awareness campaigns, which empowered teams to avoid landfill and incineration-based waste management, while focusing on sustainable practices, including recycling, reuse, and circular material flows.

A Global Commitment to Sustainable Operations

Using UL Solutions’ Environmental Claim Validation Program, TenCate plans to certify all its manufacturing facilities in Europe, the US, and the Middle East under the UL 2799 Zero Waste to Landfill standard.

The UL 2799 protocol requires companies to track all waste streams, ensure full regulatory compliance, and demonstrate that waste is recycled or converted into usable energy. Small quantities, less than 10%, may be disposed of, only with full traceability and environmental safeguards.
