UL Zero Waste to Landfill Gold for TenCate Thiolon Middle East and USA

UL Zero Waste to Landfill Gold Validation

TenCate has reached its highest waste diversion rate to date. Both Thiolon Middle East in Dubai and Thiolon USA have achieved a 98% diversion rate, earning UL Solutions’ Zero Waste to Landfill Gold Validation.

This means that almost all operational waste at these sites is now being reused, recycled, or recovered, without any thermal waste processing. It’s a major step toward TenCate’s goal of full Zero Waste to Landfill certification across its manufacturing network.

Getting here took more than technical adjustments. Each site re-examined its processes, upgraded infrastructure, and ran awareness programs that helped employees rethink waste at its source. Every small improvement, from better sorting to smarter reuse, added up.

Nikoleta Konstantinidou, Group ESG Director, explains it simply:

“This achievement is about teamwork. It shows what can happen when everyone sees waste not as a problem but as a resource. The more we share and learn from each other, the faster we move toward a truly circular system.”

The validation of these two major facilities builds on TenCate’s ongoing environmental goals and its long-term partnership with UL Solutions. The company is now working toward certifying all its remaining manufacturing sites in Europe, the USA, and the Middle East to the UL 2799 standard.

Each step brings the group closer to its ambition of circular production, where no valuable material ends up in landfill.
