Unique colours for new hockey pitch of the St George’s College
Being the school’s second hockey field, the St George’s College in Weybridge, UK chose TigerTurf Evo Pro as their new playing surface. The school has huge sports provision and therefore needs long-lasting, quality surfaces to support their extensive sports programme.
The college decided to use the unique yarn colour BordeauxViolet; resulting in outstanding aesthetics besides having a consistent and durable hockey pitch.
Fred van der Gaag, R&D Project Manager at TenCate Grass Fibres and Fabrics explains: “At the request of the St. George’s College, our supplier matched the colour and we made a small batch of yarn for the College to check if the colour would match their expectations. In our palette of basic components to build up colours, we add colour-fast technology for extra durability. After colour approval of St. George’s, we made the actual needed quantity into compound, which we mixed again to eliminate the risk of colour differences. Then we started extruding the yarn. This way, we ensure all the yarns have the same colour.”
